Do it Anyway

Do it Anyway poem by BRITT WOLFE author

You will never feel ready.
That’s the secret no one tells you.
The fear doesn’t vanish —
you just learn to walk with it,
to braid it into your breath
and call it adrenaline.

The voice that says who do you think you are?
never shuts up.
It only grows quieter
when you drown it out with motion.

So do it anyway.
Shake. Stumble. Doubt.
Do it with your hands trembling
and your throat full of questions.
Do it when the room goes silent
and your heart sounds too loud in your ears.
Do it when they underestimate you.
Do it when you underestimate yourself.

You think courage feels like conviction,
but it doesn’t.
It feels like nausea.
Like standing on the edge and leaping
while your whole body screams no.

But here’s the truth no one ever told you:
you don’t need confidence.
You need momentum.
You need that single, defiant spark
that whispers I’ll try.

Because the masterpiece was never made by the one
who waited for permission.
It was made by the one who stayed terrified
and did it anyway.

Do it afraid.
Do it unsure.
Do it messy, and small, and imperfect,
and still — do it.

And when you fail — because you will —
fail forward.
Fail brilliantly.
Fail in a way that makes the world notice
how fiercely you tried.

Every empire was built
on the bones of hesitation.
Every artist who ever changed the world
started by shaking.

So let the fear come.
Let the doubt howl.
Let your hands tremble and your knees buckle
and your voice crack —

but for the love of everything
that could still be,

do it anyway.

Poetry Anthologies by Britt Wolfe:

Britt Wolfe

Britt Wolfe writes emotionally devastating fiction with the precision of a heart surgeon and the recklessness of someone who definitely shouldn’t be trusted with sharp objects. Her stories explore love, loss, and the complicated mess of being human. If you enjoy books that punch you in the feelings and then politely offer you a Band-Aid, you’re in the right place.
