André Buchner was raised by no one and nothing. Coldmere winters and the hard edge of being forgotten shaped him. He left home at fifteen—if you could even call it that—and swore he’d build a different kind of life. And for a while, he did.

He earned a degree in economics, worked in energy development during Norland’s oil boom, and built a solid life for himself. Eventually, he met Elisa—beautiful, luminous, and twenty years younger. She was a burst of light in his otherwise grey world, and when she gave him twin daughters and a son she named Prince (after her favourite musician), André believed he’d finally done it. He’d broken the cycle.

But addiction crept in quietly. What began as microdosing to stay sharp—stay present—turned into something far darker. He lost his job. Lost his wife. Lost access to his children. Elisa filed a restraining order after Prince was born, and André hasn’t seen any of them since.

Now, he earns a living driving for Voyagr, shuttling strangers through the streets of Arbourleigh while nursing a different kind of high: the bitter cocktail of surveillance, secrecy, and off-the-books work for a private employer with deeper motives.

He is no longer sure if he's the observer or the weapon. Only that he still watches. And that he still waits.

Britt Wolfe

Britt Wolfe writes emotionally devastating fiction with the precision of a heart surgeon and the recklessness of someone who definitely shouldn’t be trusted with sharp objects. Her stories explore love, loss, and the complicated mess of being human. If you enjoy books that punch you in the feelings and then politely offer you a Band-Aid, you’re in the right place.
